“It is enough that we are (still?) here, in studios, cities and communities, contributing who we are and not simply what we produce.” Jane Morrow, 2021.
Eagle Works Studios previously resided in a Victorian factory building on Wolverhampton's Great Brickkiln Street from 1984 until 2020 when it moved into a two story 1960s office block, ‘Victoria House,’ on the roof of the Mander Shopping Center.
Through four decades of active studios; people coming, going, staying, returning, making and dwelling, the socio-political landscape has transformed around us, yet the challenges of maintaining artist-led affordable studios remains constant. Dwelling emerges from this and seeks to question and celebrate how artists take up space and how we live and work together.
Our change of location has offered scope to explore the future of Eagle Works and how we as artists interact with the city. This exhibition, hosted in the Mander Centre Community Hub comprised of past and present studio holder work, and archival materials donated by the wider Eagle Works community.
